Open Question: Got a traffic ticket and can't appear in court?

I got a traffic ticket from california highway patrol in san jose. It's not mandatory to appear in court, but I want to fight it. I can't appear in court because I live in Oregon, but my mother lives in San jose and is willing to go to court for me. I am 19 years old and she still claims me as a dependent.
